Book a Class

What we offer:

From December 1st to May 1st, we offer in-person classes to individuals ages 9 and up (with parent/guardian present) as well as couples, families, team building, and other groups. All classes are private, by appointment, so it is only you and your party with no distractions. You will have a great time, as I show you how to perform each step, and then you will replicate each step on your own master piece.

Dress Code:

We recommend that you wear leather shoes or boots, jeans, t-shirt, a work shirt and something to tie hair up if necessary. No open toed shoes or shorts please (you will thank me later).

Lunch is provided:

We provide lunch and Chelsey’s famous sweet tea, to all participants each day of the class.

Payment:

A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to schedule a class or demonstration. The final 50% payment is due the first morning of the class. Students are responsible for their own lodging accommodations.


Basic Blacksmithing Class

[$500/person – 2 day class]

In the basic blacksmithing class we focus on the basics of forging, which is the foundation for everything you need to become a great blacksmith. No experience is required, and I provide all the tools you will need for this class. This class is great for someone who has very little experience and wants to learn the basics. You will leave with an s-hook that we use to learn a few techniques (point, taper, scroll, twist), a hot/cold cut chisel and a pair of forge tongs.

Ornamental Iron Work Class

[$550/person – 2 day class]

In the ornamental iron work class we focus on some more advanced techniques that you can use to bring that one of a kind look to your work. No experience is required, and I provide all of the tools you will need for this class. We build a fire-poker with a basket-weave twist, and we can build some leaves or scrolls or dragon heads, this is kinda your preference.

Basic Bladesmithing Class

[$650/person – 2.5 day class]

In the basic bladesmithing class you will forge a 4″ – 6″ fixed blade knife, we will go through the steps of forging, filing, hardening, tempering, casting a bolster, mounting the handle, and finishing the handle. You will enjoy every step of this class. This class requires that you bring a few of your own tools, something you can add to your own shop after the class, to continue your craft.

Advanced Bladesmithing Class

[$750/person – 2.5 day class]

In the advanced bladesmithing class you will forge a 10″ Dagger or Double-Edged Blade. We will go through the steps of forging, filing, hardening, tempering, casting a bolster, mounting the handle, and finishing the handle. You will enjoy every step of this class. This class requires that you bring a few of your own tools, something you can add to your own shop after the class, to continue your craft.

Build a Pipe Tomahawk Class

[$760/person – 3 day class]

In this class you will forge a pipe tomahawk, in the traditional style. You will drill and shape the tomahawk, and forge weld the carbon steel cutting edge. You will file, shape and polish the tomahawk head. You will shape and fit the handle and then walk through the final finishing steps. You leave with a tomahawk to be proud of made by your own hands. This class requires that you bring a few of your own tools, something you can add to your own shop after the class, to continue your craft.

Basic Bowie Knife Class

[$1,250/person – 3.5 day class]

In this class you make a Classic Southern style 10″ Bowie Knife. You will forge, harden and temper and file the blade. You will build a custom hardwood handle, mount the handle to the blade, and work through shaping, polishing, and putting the final finish on the blade. As a final step we will sharpen the blade to make it ready for use. This class requires that you bring a few of your own tools, something you can add to your own shop after the class, to continue your craft.

Basic Swordsmithing Class

[$1,550/person – 4.5 day class]

In this class you make a 18″ – 20″ Classic Double Edged Blade. You will forge the blade, harden and temper the blade, as well as file, sand polish and sharpen the blade. On this knife we make an iron hand guard. When we finish the blade, we move into making the custom hardwood handle. You will Mount, File, Shape, Sand, Stain and finish the handle to perfection. We finish up by sharpening the blade. This class requires that you bring a few of your own tools, something you can add to your own shop after the class, to continue your craft.

Basic Rifle Building Class

[$1,800/person – 5 day class]

In this class you will build a Classic Poorboy Style Rifle or Pistol, thats your choice. This is a big project for 5 days, and tends to be an intense paced class, so it will require some experience. In this project you will forge a trigger, trigger plate, ramrod thimbles, front and rear sites. You will shape the rifle or pistol stock out of hardwood stock, and adjust it to fit the whole rifle assembly. You will spend a lot of time shaping and finishing the stock and assembling the rifle. At the end we will take it out back and test fire your new rifle, nothing more satisfying than knowing you made it! This class requires that you bring a quite a few tools and materials of your own, get ready to have some fun.
